§ 10.02. B-2 General Retail Business District.

    Purpose. The B-2 District is established to provide additional business, commercial and limited service uses which are not permitted in the B-1 District.

    2.

    Permitted Uses. The following retail and service uses are permitted, provided they are operated entirely within a building, except for off-street parking and loading facilities:

    Any use permitted in the B-1 District.

    Art galleries and studios.

    Auction rooms.

    Automobile service stations.

    Ambulance service.

    Amusement establishments—bowling alleys, billiard parlors, gymnasiums, commercial swimming pools, dance halls, skating rinks and other similar places of recreation.

    Bicycle sales and repair.

    Businesses selling goods or services, or providing entertainment of an adult nature, which business is of a type which would otherwise be permitted in B-1 or B-2 District, shall be permitted a B-2 District provided that such use is not located within 1,000 feet of a church, school, day care facility, park, recreation facility or governmental office. A business which derives less than 25 percent of its gross revenues from the sale, rental or provision of goods, services or entertainment of an adult nature and, if applicable, whose business inventory is made up of assets related to the adult business constituting less than 25 percent of the value of the total inventory of such business, shall not be considered to be a business of an adult nature for purposes hereof. This ordinance shall not be construed as permitting the sale, rental, distribution, or possession of obscenity prohibited by any other ordinance of the city, or by any federal or state law or regulation.     Costume rental shops.

    Glass cutting and glazing establishments.

    Garages, public, for storage of private passenger automobile and commercial vehicles under one and one-half tons.

    Hand laundries.

    Hotels and motels.

    Loan offices and finance companies.

    Locksmith.

    Meeting halls.

    Pawn shops.

    Pet shops, but not including animal hospitals.

    Physical culture and health services.

    Picture framing, when conducted for retail trade on the premises only.

    Plumbing, heating and air conditioning sales and service.

    Photo developing and processing.

    Radio and television broadcasting stations.

    Schools: music, dance, business, commercial or trade.

    Second hand stores, antique and rummage shops.

    Seed stores.

    Taxidermist.

    Telephone exchange, repeater stations, micro-wave relay towers and stations, mobile transmitting towers and stations, antenna towers and other outdoor equipment essential to the operation of the exchange in the interest of public convenience and necessity, and including business offices in conjunction therewith.

    Telephone answering service.

    Theater, indoor.

    Undertaking establishments, funeral parlors or mortuaries.

    Accessory uses, including off-street parking and loading facilities as permitted or required in accordance with the provisions of Section 13.00.

    3.

    Special Uses. The following uses may be allowed by special use permit:

    Any use which may be allowed as a special use in the B-1 Retail Business District, unless already permitted under Subsection 10.02-1, Permitted Uses.

    Automobile sales and service shops, including painting and repairing, but not the painting or repairing of trucks.

    Blue printing and photostating establishments.

    Catering establishments.

    Printing and publishing of a newspaper, including engraving and photoengraving. (Ord. No. 85-O-005, § 1, 1-7-85)

    4.

    Conditions of Use. All permitted uses in this district, except residence district uses, shall be retail and service establishments and shall be subject to the following conditions:

    a.

    There shall be no manufacture, processing or treatment of products other than those which are clearly incidental and essential to the retail business conducted on the same premises.

    b.

    Such uses, operations or products shall not be objectionable due to odor, dust, smoke, noise or vibrations or other similar causes.

    5.

    Yard Areas. All yard regulations shall be the same as required in the B-1 Limited Retail Business District.

    6.

    Signs. Signs shall be as permitted in Section 12.00

    7.

    Off-Street Parking and Loading. Parking and loading facilities shall be provided as required or permitted in Section 13.00

    8.

    Maximum Floor Area Ratio and Lot Coverage. The same regulations shall apply as required or permitted in the B-1 Limited Retail Business District, paragraph 8-2 [8.b].
