§ 2-26. Ward boundaries—Generally.

  • The city is hereby divided into five wards, with boundaries as follows:

    (1)

    Ward Number One: Commencing at the intersection of the northerly boundary of the city with the east line of the right-of-way of the old Norfolk & Western Railroad right-of-way (now abandoned); thence southeasterly along the east line of the right-of-way to the center of the Vermillion River; thence along the center of the Vermillion River to its intersection with the eastern limits of the city; thence along the eastern and northern limits of the city to the place of beginning.

    (2)

    Ward Number Two: Commencing at the intersection of the northerly boundary line of the city with the western line of the right-of-way of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad; thence southwesterly along the western line of the right-of-way to the north right-of-way line of State Route 116; thence west along the north right-of-way line extended to the west boundary limits of the city, thence northerly along the west boundary line to the place of beginning.

    (3)

    Ward Number Three: Commencing at the intersection of the east line of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad right-of-way and the south right-of-way line of Madison Street; thence east along the south right-of-way of Madison Street to a point where it intersects with the west right-of-way line of Mill Street; thence south along the west side of Mill Street to the south boundary line of the city; thence west along the south boundary to the east line of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad right-of-way; thence northerly along the east line of such right-of-way to the point of beginning.

    Ward Number Four: Commencing at the intersection of the southerly limits of the city with the east line of Mill Street; thence north along the east line of Mill Street to the south line of Madison Street; thence east along the south line of Madison Street to the western line of the right-of-way of the Wabash Railroad; thence southeasterly along the western line of such right-of-way to the center of the Vermillion River; thence westerly down the center of the Vermillion River to its intersection with the easterly limits of the city (presently Manlove Street); thence in a southerly direction along the eastern limits of the city to the south boundary line; thence west along the south boundary line to the place of beginning.

    Ward Number Five: Commencing at the intersection of the northerly limits of the city with the eastern line of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad right-of-way; thence southwesterly along the east line of such right-of-way to the south line of Madison Street; thence east along the south line of Madison Street to the east line of the Norfolk & Western Railroad right-of-way (now abandoned); thence northerly along such east line to the place of beginning.
