§ 22-28. Condition of vehicles.

Latest version.
  • No licensed taxicab shall be operated upon any public street or highway in the city unless it is in mechanical and physical condition rendering it thoroughly safe for the transportation of passengers, nor unless it is in a clean and sanitary condition. The chief of police, whenever he may reasonably be of the opinion that such vehicle should be inspected as to its mechanical or sanitary condition, may order the owner thereof forthwith to have an inspection of the vehicle made at some reputable garage or repair shop in the city. If the owner of such vehicle shall fail to comply with such order, or shall thereafter operate such vehicle without causing to be repaired or corrected any defects which may be found rendering such vehicle unsafe for the transportation of passengers or unsanitary for such purpose, the mayor may forthwith revoke the license for such vehicle granted under the provisions of this article.
