§ 1-4. Effect of headings and captions.

The headings or captions of the several sections, divisions, articles and chapters of this Code are intended as mere catchwords to indicate the contents of the sections, divisions, articles and chapters and shall not be deemed or taken to be titles of such sections, divisions, articles and chapters nor as any part of the sections, divisions, articles and chapters nor, unless expressly so provided, shall they be so deemed when any of such sections, divisions, articles and chapters, including the headings or captions, are amended or reenacted.
