§ 18-27. Special policemen.

For special occasions, the mayor is hereby authorized to appoint special policemen, as the city council may from time to time by order direct, which officers shall continue in office during the time named in the order under which they were appointed. The order shall in each case specify the number of special policemen appointed and their names and compensation. In case of unforeseen emergency or disaster, the mayor may appoint such special policemen without an order of the city council.
