§ 14-172. Record of purchases.

  • Every keeper of a junk shop or used car wrecking business shall provide and keep a book in which shall be entered, at the time of the purchase, a description of each article purchased in the conduct of his business, the name and place of residence of the person from whom the purchase was made, the date of the purchase and the price paid for the article. Every such book shall, at all reasonable times, be open to the inspection of the mayor, of the city attorney and of any member of the police department. In addition to such penalty as is provided in this article, the mayor may revoke the license of any person convicted of a violation of this section. The requirements of this section shall not extend to the purchase of old rags and wastepaper by any such dealer.
